Welcome to William Parker School

18 May 2012

Dear Parents/Carers

We have had a very successful day of discussions on Tuesday between Communitas (the Marketing Company engaged by E-ACT) and approximately 30 students from the school representing all age groups.

The students were given the opportunity to explore the impact of branding, colour, design and detail which could be used when the school becomes an academy. Wide ranging investigation of potential uniform design as well as name of the school took place with some very positive outcomes. The reports at the end of the day are full of praise for students informed engagement and positive ideas. All the students were exemplary ambassadors for the school, its vision, ethos and plans for the future.
I am very proud of them and their valuable contributions.

William Parker also took part in the U17 (Year 10 and 11) District Athletics with some superb results. Well done to all involved.

We also have some exciting news about Ryan Haynes from year 11 who has secured a scholarship with Coventry City Football Club.

Ryan Haynes from year 11, began training at Coventry City FC when he was 8 years old, receiving his first contract 6 weeks. He started playing as a striker he has now found his home as left back. He now successfully plays all over the country, Liverpool, Cardiff, Chelsea to name just a few.
Ryan is classed as an “elite performer” but education also plays a major part for him, and he always ensures that he has a good balance between the two at William Parker.
He has played for the U 17s & U18s on a number of occasions and went to Peterborough's London Road Stadium where he played in a FA Youth Cup game, ‘this was a great experience’ Ryan said, going on to say ‘Football is a very important part of my life, but school is up there with it, I’m really looking forward to the future to play professional football and become a household name.’

He achieved his scholarship in October this will give him 2 years training and studying for up to 3 sports related A Levels. He is extremely excited and positive about what the future holds for him, including hopefully a future with the first team.
Ryan will join Coventry City Football Academy on 1st July - we wish Ryan every success for the future.
- Well done Ryan!

The examination season is now in full swing, it is a stressful time for students so please ensure that your son/daughter is clear about which exam subject they have, the time and that they have all the necessary equipment.

Full school uniform is required and total compliance with examination rules and regulations, so please ensure they are wearing this.

I would stress that it is most important that your contact details are updated on our database. Please could you take this opportunity to contact the school with any changes.

Best Wishes
